Preparing for Battle

“In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower

We are not having an actual battle, but the objective of our meeting last January 10, 2014 is to gain knowledge about Firefox Student Ambassadors and to plan for future events that we will be conducting.

USTFSA is slowly growing; new members only have an idea on what Firefox Student Ambassadors do. So far, I have attended 2 meetings already as a UST Firefox Student Ambassador. I am a newbie as well. On the first meeting I attended, we introduced ourselves to one another. Last January 10, new FSAs are also asked to introduce themselves too. For us to be close, we have to be open. We cannot establish relationships if we are not open. You will not be close to a person if you will not give them information about you.

Firefox promotes openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web. That is the mission of Firefox. “We’re building a better internet.” Since we are FSAs, we should build strong ties so that we can effectively work together.

Here are the tentative dates of our upcoming events this February 2014.

February 1 – Firefox OS Workshop
8am – 12nn
ICS Lab 2
Roque Ruaño Building

          February 22 – MozTour UST
1pm – 5pm
Engineering Conference Hall
Roque Ruaño Building

The meeting consists of two parts, Introduction about the Firefox Student Ambassadors and the Different Levels of Recognition.

The first part is to orient the new members about the First 5 Steps.

We watched short clips about Mozilla Firefox. Some are also inspired to create animations similar to the clips what we watched.

Next is the Different Levels of Recognition.

We were encouraged by Ate Tina to be active in posting updates and facts about Firefox using #Firefox on social media websites. We were also encouraged to request for a Firefox Student Ambassador Open Badge.

Ate Tina also mentioned about the “Army of Awesome” where in we would answer questions about Firefox through social media. In addition to that is to join and participate in web-minars or meetings by Mozillians. We should communicate to the other FSAs around the world to exchange experiences and knowledge.

“The success of our mission depends on participation from people like you.” (x)

With proper preparation and right amount of determination we can help Firefox build a better internet.
